Halloween Treats!

I hope everyone has a safe and fun Halloween weekend. I thought it would be fun to make some Halloween cookies for tonight's costume party. They are homemade sugar and peanut butter cookies with butter cream icing. I slaved on them all morning and they didn't turn out like I was hoping. As you can see, I'm not the greatest cook in the world. I personally think they turned out quite comical and they taste a little funny too. Oh well, it was fun anyhow. I hope they get eaten tonight. I did try a cookie and they're not that bad, just a little dry.

Those are supposed to be cats if you can't tell haha.

I bought this canister of 100 cookie cutters. There's a full alphabet and various designs for every holiday. I'm excited to practice making cookies more often so I can perfect them.

I'm excited for the costume party tonight. Don't worry, I will be taking my camera and I will post pictures of all the wonderful costumes. Happy Halloween :))

Way Back Wednesday- Quincee and Alli!

Meet my best friend Alli! I can't even remember how long i've known Alli because I was so young, but probably since we were about 4 years old. We grew up living on the same street. We did absolutely EVERYTHING together. We rode to school together, played soccer and softball together, took gymnastics together, played together everyday after school, and we would have lived together if our parents would have let us. I remember we spent the night together almost every weekend and sometimes I would stay at her house one night and she would stay at mine the next night. We rarely ever got tired of each other. One thing that always amazed me about our friendship is that we have never gotten into a huge fight, regardless of how much time we spend together. I saw an old video of us from middle school and I hate to admit this, but we were dressed alike and we wore our hair alike......how embarassing! I guess we thought we were long lost twin sisters, who knows. I can't imagine what my life would be like without my best friend! Love you AL! Thanks for always being such a great friend. Giving our friend Rachel and up-do before the 6th grade dance.

A Sweet Package in the Mail!

Today I had a package waiting for me when I got home. I wasn't expecting anything in the mail and I was very confused when I saw the return postage was from Kentucky. I thought what in the world could it be? I was SO excited when I opened it up and remembered that I ordered a Team Libby bracelet from EBay last week. If you all haven't heard Libby Ryder's AMAZING story, you MUST read her blog ASAP. I came across it while looking at a blog that I follow. I read the introduction to her blog and I was immediately drawn to her story. I got home from work that night and I stayed up until 1:00am reading her blog from start to finish. I literally bawled my eyes out the entire 3 hours. It is an incredibly humbling story about a young woman who is battling cancer. She is a mother, sister, wife, and daughter and she is absolutely inspiring. Best of all, she is a lover of Jesus and uses her cancer to bring others closer to Jesus. I can't even imagine being in her shoes, much less remaining as positive and strong as she has. Her blog is called "Don't Waste Your Cancer." I highly suggest you read it, I promise you will be forever changed. It will totally change your outlook on life and will inspire you to be a better person. Here is a link to her blog: http://libbyryder.blogspot.com/
After reading her blog I decided to buy a Team Libby bracelet as a reminder to constantly pray for her and all the other people battling cancer. One side of the bracelet says Team Libby and the other side says hope, faith, courage, love. You can purchase the bracelets here: http://cgi.ebay.com/Team-Libby-Bracelet-/290483284899?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&var=&hash=item895f1c4fe9
Please check out Libby's blog and pray for her and her family!

Randomness.....

Just a few random tidbits about what has been going on in my life lately.

AARON (my boyfriend) FOUND OUT TONIGHT THAT HE PASSED HIS OKLAHOMA WILDLIFE TEST!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hooray, this is such great news! In order to work for the Oklahoma Wildlife Department you must pass this test. Actually, you cannot even fill out an application until you've passed the test. You have to score in the top 25% of the group who took it with you in order to pass. Aaron loves being outside. He is an avid fisher and hunter and will be great at doing any kind of job that involves wildlife and nature. He will graduate this December with a degree in Environmental and Health Safety Management. Way to go Aaron, I'm so proud of you :)

I'm very excited because these two lovely ladies will be visiting me for Halloween! These are two of my best friends that I met in college.

The three of us will be dressing up as Thing 1 & Thing 2 & Cat in the Hat. I think it will be super fun. We are going to my friend's Halloween costume party and it is required that you dress up. They are giving away a prize for the best costume. I can't wait to see what everyone comes up with. I love Halloween! I'll make sure and share pics of all the costumes from the party!

My family bought my brother some goodies for the backyard for his birthday. I bought him a fire pit and my parents bought him a hammock and some tiki torches so we could have some fun cookouts this fall. We have already put them to good use. Since it was such a nice day today, I decided to lay out in the hammock and read a book while the dogs played. I'm in a book club with my mom and some of our friends. I know it sounds like something old women do, but I really do enjoy it. I've only attended one of the meetings because I work nights, but I still read the books. The last book we read was "Looking for Salvation at the Dairy Queen" by Susan Gregg Gilmore. I really enjoyed reading it. Our new book is called "Singing with the Top Down" by Debrah Williamson. So far I'm on chapter 5 and I think it will be good. I like being in the book club because it motivates me to read. I love to read, but I rarely make time for it.

These Are A Few Of My Favorite Things.....

I went to my first hair show yesterday and I had a lot of fun and learned some new techniques and tricks of the trade. I've been doing hair for 4 years, but I never had the time to attend a hair show because I was too busy with school and work. It was a small show in OKC at City Walk. Matrix, Sexy Hair, Framesi, and Farouk were all there. Apparently there are going to be some new big changes with Matrix within the next year or so. They were very excited about some new lines coming out, but they weren't able to share much more than that. They also have two fairly new color lines out that I wasn't aware of, but the colors looked amazing on the models! I can't wait to try them out. Also, their newest product line is called Design Pulse and it is targeted for both male and female clients. I got a bunch of samples of the new line and I think I'm going to really like their Shine Max.

While we are on the subject of hair product, I thought I'd share a few of my favorite things...
I LOVE Big Sexy Hair's Blow Dry Volumizing Gel! You apply it to wet hair and then blow dry it. It gives lots of voluptuous volume!

I am currently using Catwalk's Your Highness Volumizing Hairspray and I really like it. It has a great smell and it's not too strong or sticky. It's lightweight and workable.
I have been using this product religiously since I started hair school. I am obsessed with it and there's rarely a day that goes by that I don't use it. Since my hair is so long and tangly I have to use a detangling spray. Healthy Sexy Hair's Soy Tri-Wheat Leave-In Treatment is amazing. I spray it in my hair before I brush it out. It makes all the tangles go away and it's so much easier to comb through. Not only that, but it also leaves my hair feeling soft, silky, and SHINY! They recently came out with new packaging and a new improved formula that includes soy & cocoa and I can tell a difference in the amount of shine. A lot of people have been asking me how I get my hair so shiny and this is the answer! You should try it, you will not be disappointed!

I also really like Kenra's Root Lifting Spray. When the hair is wet, you lift it and spray it on the root area. It will provide fabulous height and volume in your crown area.....and it smells wonderful!

Big Sexy Hair recently introduced their new product called Powder Play. I hadn't heard anything about it until a few clients came into the salon looking for it. They spoke very highly of it so I decided to try it out and WOW it works wonders!! My hair is fine, straight, and flat and I have a very hard getting any volume. If you've ever tried to backcomb or poof my hair you know that it doesn't work very well. However, if you use this stuff it will work. I backcomb my hair and then sprinkle a little bit of powder on the roots and it stays exactly where I want it. All you have to do is run your fingers back in your hair to poof it and it will stay that way. A little bit of this stuff goes a long way!
Pureology is by far my favorite product line when it comes to shampoo & conditioner. I love their Hydrate Shampoo & Conditioner. The conditioner really cleans your scalp and leaves it feeling tingly and minty fresh! Even though Pureology is more expensive than most, it is well worth the extra money. I also love Pureology's HydraCure conditioning mask and their ShineMax smoothing serum.

Parker's Football Game!

Last night I got to watch my little cousin's football game. He is in 2nd grade and he is playing tackle football. It's quite entertaining to watch! Parker did a great job and we had a lot of fun watching! Parker and little brother Zach. I love this picture, Zach's face is too cute!Mr. Tough ManI bet he grows up to be a heart breaker.

Way Back Wednesday- Megan and Quincee

In honor of Megan turning 23 this Friday, I thought it would be appropriate to go back in time and black mail her with some great old pictures. Megan and I became friends when we were around 4 years old. We both lived on the same street growing up. We also attended Safety Town together (where you go to learn about street smarts). Megan moved away to live with her mom when we were in the 4th grade, but she came back almost every summer and stayed with her dad. I've always thought it was really cool that even though Megan lived in another town, we were able to remain great friends and pick up where we left off when she returned for the summer. I have a thousand childhood memories that involve Megan. Megan's house was always so much fun.......her dad always had a huge stash of candy. I remember every time I went to her house I had to use plastic ware because I always seemed to break their glass dishes...there was some kind of curse on the house I think. My favorite memories with Megan include: falling off the top bunk bed, cheer leading and dancing, playing dress up, Halloween & July 4th celebrations, riding the go-kart, TPing houses, The 3 Stooges, black and white pics, and many many more!! I hope you have a great bday Meg!! I love you!!

This picture was taken at one of my birthday parties. From left to right: Holly, Paige, Kelly, Allison, MEGAN, Rachel, me (sticking my tongue out), Jessica, and Laura. Here we are at Safety town. Apparently we decided to stop for lunch at Chick-Fil-A.Cruisin' around Safety Town.Freshman year semi-formal. Remember, she didn't go to school with us, but we set her up with a date so she could go to the dance with us.Every summer we took black and white pictures with our best friend Allison. We LOVED getting dressed up and putting on lots of make-up for these pictures. We treated them like glamour shots. We couldn't wait to get the film developed and see them. I would always frame the pics and hang them in my room :) This was the 1st year.2nd year3rd year (sorry there are weird dots on this one....and yes i had huge cheeks)4th yearThis is us back in March. Megan is now a proud mama to the sweetest baby girl. This was my first time meeting Miss K. I know I think all babies are soo cute, but Megan's baby is hands down the cutest, sweetest baby I have ever seen. She is constantly smiling and giggling and is so fun to love on!

**********For those of you who don't know me, but read my blog (if there are any of you haha), I apologize for these long posts about my past. I know they probably bore the heck out of you and I'm sorry. However, I will continue to do them because I actually really enjoy reminiscing and finding these old pics and I have a hard time not sharing them with my friends that are in them. If you do read my blog and I don't know you, please leave me a comment with your blog URL because I'd love to read yours too :))

Kitchen: Before & After

I'm finally done painting the kitchen, HOORAY!! No more brown woodwork, ugly green walls, and grape wallpaper border. However, we do still have the retro oven and refrigerator which I'm starting to love with the new woodwork! Here is a before picture:

And here it is now: It's hard to tell in the picture, but the walls are painted a very light blue/green color. It's called Winter In Paris. It makes the kitchen look so much lighter, fresher, and bigger. We kept the old hardware and I just spray painted it nickel.

Just leave me a comment and I'll get your email and we can discuss what style and designs you like. I can also make little girl tu-tus.
