Testing My Patience!

So I had this marvelous idea today that I was going to treat my dog to a nice long walk, swimming, and a bath. My dad takes my dog on 3-6 mile walks every morning and this morning he had to work early so he didn't get his usual morning walk. I have the day off and had some free time so I thought, "I'm going to one up my dad and let him swim and be wild and free." You see, sometimes we have conversations in my house about who the dog likes better......me, my mom, or dad. My parents think when I move out he will be miserable without them. I must admit he gets more attention and love than most dogs I know so he will definitely be sad when two of his favorites are no longer there. Of course, I'm his most favorite :)

Back to the story.....I let him off the leash and he took off towards the pond. I threw sticks for him to fetch and he swam and swam and swam. He was loving every minute of it. Then, I decided I'd go ahead and keep him off the leash since no one else was in sight and he could roam around freely and hopefully dry off. He ran around like crazy through the woods and had a blast. At the time, I didn't think anything of it, but when we got home I noticed he was covered from head to toe in teeny tiny little burrs. That's when I almost had an anxiety attack. I had no idea how I was going to get the little boogers off. Let me remind you that my dog is a huge golden retriever with mass amounts of long hair. They were burried under his fur everywhere. I'm not exaggerating either....if I had a dollar for every burr I picked out, I'd be a millionaire. I set him down on the garage floor and I started picking and every time I would pull too hard, he would let me know by nipping at my hand. I sat there for two whole hours picking them off. I made progress, but there were still a bunch left. I decided to go ahead and take him to the dog wash and see if they would come out better while I washed him. A few more came off while washing, but when we got home I brushed him really good and picked the remaining burrs off for another hour. So there you have it, that's how I spent three hours of my day today. God was testing my patience and I'd say I remained pretty calm. There were a few times I contemplated shaving his entire body with my clippers. The good news is, Samson got tons of quality time with me today and he probably thought I was just petting him the entire three hours. I learned my lesson the hard way and he will no longer be running free in the tall grass anymore. BURRS=NO FUN.

What I'm Loving Wednesday!

I'm linking up with Jamie for What I'm Loving Wednesday.

#1. I LOVED all the fun shenanigans that went on last week/weekend.
-I got to stay at Aaron's on my days off last week. We had a blast hanging out at the lake,  shopping in Tulsa, and hanging out with his family. I seriously don't think I've ever laughed as hard or as often as I do around Aaron and his brothers. They are hysterical when they get together, they always have me rolling.

-Friday night, one of my friends from high school got married. They had a fun, sweet reception afterwards. Toni looked so beautiful and happy. I'm so excited for her and wish her many many years of joy and bliss. I didn't get a picture with the bride :( but here's a pic of us at the reception.
My pretty friends Katie and Alli.....love you girls.

 - My best friend, Marcus was in town visiting from Seattle. All of our friends from high school went out on Saturday night and then we had dinner at Zio's on Sunday night. It was great to see Marcus and catch up with everyone. They are all very special, dear friends to me and I love spending time with them.

#2. I'm going to LOVE all the fun shenanigans that will take place this weekend and next week/weekend.
- Friday night after work, I'll be heading to the Talequah area for Aaron's congrats/going away party with his friends. It's always a blast at his friend's house and it's been a while since I've been there so I'm really excited. It will be a very short trip since I have to be at work the next morning, but it will be worth the drive.
- It just so happens that 4th of July falls on my day off and I have the following day off as well. I'll be spending the holiday with Aaron. We aren't quite sure what our plans are, but I'm sure it will be tons of fun.
-The weekend after 4th of July, we will be headed to a state park for our family reunion. Can't wait to have the weekend off and soak up the sun and spend quality time with family that I haven't seen in a while. We are doing our Christmas in July this year since it's been difficult to get everyone together during Christmas time. Get ready for a lot of picture taking :)
The last time we were all together in April 2011 for my Mema's 80th birthday party.
Some of the family together at Trevor & Ashley's wedding in November 2011.

#3. I'm in LOVE with Tori Spelling's new show on TLC called Craft Wars. It comes on at 9:00pm central time on Tuesday nights. You should check it out. It's my second favorite show on TV right now...The Bachelorette is still #1.

Hope you guys have a great week and a Happy 4th of July!

Garage Sale Goodies #2

Here are a few pictures of my treasures from this weeks garage sales.
I got these two wooden pieces for $2. For those of you not familiar with the bean bag toss game, that is what they will be used for. Now I just have to find some bean bags. I might paint the boards something fun and make my own colorful bean bags.
This tray was $0.50
 This mirror tray was $1.00
I got three of these canvas storage totes for $7.00
I got this glass drink dispenser for $10.00
I got seven various pieces of fabric, sponge brushes, five paint pens, and a box full of small wooden letters for crafting....all for $8.00
This night stand was $10.00. Sorry, I didn't bother dusting it off before I took a picture.
And last, but definitely not least. My big purchase of the week.....I found this bedroom set (king size headboard, night stand, armoire and mirror, and dresser) all for $325. I'm SO excited about this purchase.

I'm so excited and anxious to eventually get a place of my own to put all my stuff in. I can't wait to see how it all comes together! For now, I'm going to take a break from garage selling because I don't need anymore stuff and I don't need to spend anymore money.

What I'm Loving Wednesday!

I'm linking up with Jamie for What I'm Loving Wednesday!

1. I'm LOVING that OKC Thunder is up 1-0 in the series against Miami Heat! WOOO

2. I'm LOVING that today is my day off and I have absolutely nothing to do. I just layed out in the hammock and finished reading my book....couldn't think of anything more relaxing and wonderful.

3. I'm LOVING Sean on Emily's season of the Bachelorette. I think he is absolutely adorable. However, I wouldn't be sad if Arie and Jeff are in the top three. I just wish Jeff would get a new hairstyle.

4. I'm LOVING Bath and Body Works new summer candles that smell exactly like a beach vacation. Must go buy some now since they are on sale for $10.

5. I'm LOVING Fake Bake self tanning airbrush spray. This stuff is legit. By far my favorite sunless tanner. If you see me sporting a tan, it's fake and I'm not ashamed to say it. I'm so white and pasty and I've realized keeping my skin healthy and wrinkle free is more important.

6. I'm LOVING Mary Kay's Velocity Facial Cleanser and Moisturizer. This is the only cleanser that works on my face. I've been using since I was in high school and it has made a dramatic difference in my skin. My skin definitely knows when I've run out. The best part, it's only $22 for both of them and it lasts a LONG time.
7. I'm LOVING that next week I will be traveling with Aaron and his mom to Arkansas to find a rent house for Aaron to live in. I love house shopping and I can't wait to explore the town. On my way home, I'll also be visiting some of my most favorite people ever, my college girlfriends :))
Can't wait to see some of these people and take some more crazy double chin pics!

Hope you guys are having a great week. Happy Wednesday!

Garage Sale Goodies!

I have been going to garage sales like it's going out of style. For the past month, I've gone every Thursday. I've had a lot more luck going on Thursday's because you get there before the Fri & Sat crowd. There's usually at least 4 or 5 garage sales in my area every Thurs. I should probably stop going because I've accumulated so much "stuff", but I'm on the lookout for some patio chairs for my Aunt Jan. Sorry Jan, no such luck YET....I'm still looking. However, I have found some goodies for myself. Here are a few pics of the "stuff" I've accumulated over the past few weeks. I know most of you probably think I'm crazy and will roll your eyes like my parents do, but yes, I have a problem!

White glass vases- $3.50 for all of them
 Cupcake Stand- $3.00
 Cake Stand- $8.00
I was super excited about this find. It is heavy duty thick glass, not sure who makes it, but I thought that was a steal!
 Bird Cage- $0.25
 Wine Bottle Carrier- $2.50
 Large Frame-$5.00

 Frames-$8.50 for all of them
 Wicker Chest-$15.00
Pretty excited about this one too. Will work great as quilt/blanket storage at the foot of a bed.
 Forever 21 Jacket-$5.00
Red Jacket- $8.00
I bought this to wear to OU games!

If anyone is having a garage sale or selling patio chairs, please let me know!!
Happy Thursday!

Bittersweet, but Mostly Sweet!

A few posts back I made this statement at the very end of my post...*Lastly, I need a favor. I would greatly appreciate it if you could all say a prayer for Aaron. He is still in the process of finding a full time job. He had an interview last week for a job that would be ideal for him. Please pray that if it's where God wants him that they will hire him. It would be SO fabulous, thanks!

Well I am super excited to announce that HE GOT THE JOB!  Thanks to everyone who kept him in your prayers, it is greatly appreciated. For those of you that don't know, Aaron graduated college about a year and a half ago with his degree in Environmental and Health Safety Management. Since then he has had an internship with the Oklahoma Wildlife Dept. and worked on a friend's farm, but was not having any luck with finding a full time career. He applied for so many different jobs and had numerous interviews. It was so frustrating for both of us, but especially him. He is extremely smart and knows his wildlife/nature/safety stuff like the back of his hand. I know he is a very hard worker and is always good at what he does. That was the most frustrating part about not finding a job. No one would give him a chance because he didn't have the required amount of experience, etc. It's a tough market out there.

All this to say, he pretty much got his dream job. He will be working as a technician at a fish hatchery in a quaint little town in Arkansas. When I say little, I mean little. I did my research and according to the 2010 census the population was 977....wowzers! Can you say culture shock for me? I am beyond excited for this new adventure.

So where does the bitter part come in? Well, this precious little town is located 7 hours from where I currently live :( Everyone has been asking me these few questions recently so I'll just go ahead and answer them.
1. When will he be moving? -Not for sure yet. Probably at the beginning of July.
2. Am I moving with him? -Not until we're married. Bring on the REAL long distance relationship!

Hopefully, within the next few weeks I will take a trip up there with him to look for a rent house.
I think it will be the perfect place for Aaron. He will be right next to great trout fishing streams so I'm sure he will do tons of fishing in his free time. He also said there's a floating river there so all are welcome to come visit and go floating!!

Here's a picture of the scenery in town:

Aaron will be doing a lot of this. I guess I better learn how to fly fish.

The little downtown. Aaron made sure to scope it all out for me at his interview. He said there are tons of cute little antique shops :) Once he moves up there, he will check out the local hair salons, if there are any.

We celebrated his new job last night with a home cooked meal. That is a rare occurrence with me. I wanted to cook whatever he picked out, but somehow Aaron ended up taking over some of the duties. I had to tell him to go sit down and let me do it. I must say, I love a guy that loves to cook...especially since I'm so bad at it.
Why do all men have to wear a towel over their back when cooking? Samson was supervising.

We enjoyed our meal on the back patio, watching the rain.
Afterwards, we went to watch the Thunder game with my brother, his wife, and some friends. It was a wonderful evening. I'm going to soak up and cherish these moments with Aaron before he moves 7 hours away. I am going to be an emotional wreck!
