Way Back Wednesday- Quincee & Vern!

I thought honoring my sweet friend Vern would be fitting for this week's Way Back Wednesday post because it is the week of her wedding...AHH so excited! I have known Veronica for a very long time. Way back when, my dad was Veronica's track coach.....then she became my babysitter ...and then she ended up sharing a classroom with my dad when she taught at Norman High. My dad got lucky because he didn't have to decorate a thing in the room. I remember her classroom was always the coolest one....lots of fun colors and decorations all over! A few years after I graduated from cosmetology school Veronica became one of my favorite/most loyal hair clients. Believe me when I say loyal... there was once a time when I colored her hair and I accidentally bought the wrong box of color and didn't know it....she had bright orange roots! She was such a trooper and went with it until I was able to fix it. She would always come over to my parents house to get her hair cut when I came home from college. It was a requirement that we cut it at my parents house so that she could sit and talk to my mom while getting her hair done. It was always fun to catch up while doing her hair. If you know Vern then you know that it is always fun when she's around. There's never a dull moment. She is so full of energy and life all the time! Veronica has always been an inspiration and a role model to me. She is an amazing woman of God and has such an evident strong faith in Him. She has been blessed with so many spiritual gifts. It's probably safe to say that she has never met a stranger and I know she leaves a positive lasting impression on everyone she meets. I have learned many things about being a good Christian through interaction with Vern and listening to her stories about life. One of my favorite things in my bedroom is a frame that Veronica made me that says "Yes Lord". It was such a small gift, but it means so much! I keep it on my nightstand as a constant reminder.

I am so excited that Vern has finally met her match and will marry him this Saturday! She has been patiently waiting for this day for a very long time! I know she will make an amazing wife and mother. Her fiance is a VERY VERY lucky man. From what I hear she is a VERY VERY lucky woman too! I could not be more thrilled for the two of them. I am honored that Veronica chose me to do her hair for the big day. She came over last week and we tried out a few different hair styles. It was very sweet and special to see her excitement and joy as she tried on the veil. She is going to look absolutely stunning!

Here are some pictures from back in the day:

Vern,
Thank you so much for your friendship and loyalty throughout the years. You definitely win the best client award. I'm so excited and honored to have a part in your wedding day. I know you're going to be the most beautiful bride. Can't wait to walk through this next stage of life with you and Kory! Love you!

Way Back Wednesday- Quincee and Allie Entz!

WARNING: This blog post contains a large number of photos. Meet Allie, my best friend from college. She will kill me for blackmailing her with the above picture, but it is such an incredibly awesome picture that I couldn't resist. Every time I see it I can't help but laugh. Allie and I met our freshman year of college. We were both members of the UAFS volleyball team. From the minute we met, we instantly became good friends. I think it was easy for us because we had so much in common. We were both setters, drove Jetta's, had double chins, and we pretty much had the same views on life. We spent countless hours together during volleyball and because we played the same position we were always put together during drills and warm-up. Allie was also my roommate for two years. Although we saw each other every day, there was rarely a time when we ever argued (minus our tiff during sophomore year). I'm so thankful for Allie's friendship.....she is such a wonderful, caring friend. We made some wonderful memories throughout college. Most of you won't pick up on these jokes, but Allie will. Team Yo Momma. Deep creeper voices. Bored video making. Pitching machines. Tarp sliding in the rain. _____ nugget. Slumber parties. My studying moodiness/nervous breakdowns. Worship CD on Norman trips. Chick-Fil-A trips. Mardi Gras....and the list goes on and on and on.

Freshman year, Spring Break in Padre.

Can you please tell me why I thought this outfit and headband were cute?

This picture was taken when Allie came to visit me in Norman after I graduated. It was so great to know that we could pick up exactly where we left off. I know that we will remain life long friends no matter where we are located on the map. I look forward to the many fun reunions that we will have over the years! I hope you know that I miss you like crazy, think of you often, and cherish our friendship dearly.

Way Back Wednesday- College Volleyball Days!

I thought I'd take a trip down memory lane to my college volleyball days. During my freshman and sophomore years of college I played volleyball at the University of Arkansas-Fort Smith. It was one of the best decisions of my life to move to Fort Smith, Arkansas and attend college there....I absolutely loved it! The first two years of college I was a member of the volleyball team and the last two years I was a member of the pom squad. I miss them both a lot! I'm so thankful that I had the opportunity to play a collegiate sport. Although it was very hard at times, it was also a lot of fun and I met so many awesome friends. I wouldn't trade those times for anything. We used to report to Arkansas a month before school started for "three-a-days." That was typically the worst two weeks of my life....I dreaded waking up everyday. During season we would practice every morning from 6:00-8:00, go straight to class, and then workout (lift or condition) after lunch. Needless to say, I learned a lot about responsibility, determination, and motivation throughout those two years. It was a huge challenge to balance volleyball and school at the same time. We were always traveling so there would be times when we would only be in class 2-3 days out of the week. It was very hard to stay caught up in class. Van rides were always bittersweet. They were long, stinky, and jam packed, but we always managed to have a good time singing, dancing, and telling interesting stories. I will always cherish the memories and friendships I made with my teammates and I hope one day we can all have a reunion :)) Love and miss you girls! Sophomore year at the National Tournament.Pool party before three-a-days (sophomore year)This picture cracks me up. This was at the Howdy dance freshman year. Freshman year athletic banquetGetting pumped before a game. It was a tradition for everyone to scream and yell down the hall then jump up and hit the arch of the door before running on the court.Sophomore night.Freshman team pic. Those were the tightest, ugliest uniforms I've ever seen.

I couldn't even breathe, much less lift my arms up. I always played horrible in those jerseys, but we wore them all the time.First home game (freshman year)Short girls on the left....giants on the right.Oh how I sometimes miss the good ole days.

Way Back Wednesday- Quincee and The Stafford's!

Meet the Stafford family! My family and the Stafford family go way back....and I mean WAY BACK! My parents and their dad went to school together way back when. They lost touch after they graduated high school, but they ran into each other in Norman, OK on the golf course after they were both married. They reconnected and have been great friends ever since. The Stafford's have a daughter Jessie who is the same age as my brother, a daughter Laura who is my age, and a son Will who is still in high school. Trevor and Jessie went to preschool together and we have tons of pictures of them kissing when they were little. Whenever our families get together, we always have such a great time. There is NEVER a dull moment. I don't think the giggling ever stops. I'm so thankful to have such sweet, special family friends. The Stafford's live in Houston so we try to get together at least once a year. Occasionally we will spend the holidays together. We've spent New Year's and the 4th of July in Houston. We've also been on a family cruise together during Thanksgiving break when I was in high school. Two years ago we spent Thanksgiving with the Stafford's at Green Leaf in Tahlequah. We had two cabins, one for the kids and one for the adults. We went fishing, hiking, and spent a lot of time eating and sitting by the campfire. It was such a relaxing and fun Thanksgiving. We decided that this year we are going to do the same thing, except we will be staying in a different location. I'm so excited to spend Thanksgiving with them!At an amusement park in Houston when I went to visit for the summer. I remember I saved up all my money and did a ton of chores so I could earn money to fly to Houston and stay with them. It was my first time to fly and I went alone.

The whole gang in Houston.

Girls Weekend....so much fun!

All three kids are extremely talented and smart. Jessica is currently in Optometry school. Laura is an interior design student at Baylor, and Will is an awesome baseball player! Both Jessica and Laura have unbelievably angelic voices. They definitely have a God given talent that will give you goosebumps. They will both be singing in my wedding one day :)

Can't wait to see you all soon!!!
