Kitchen: Before & After

I'm finally done painting the kitchen, HOORAY!! No more brown woodwork, ugly green walls, and grape wallpaper border. However, we do still have the retro oven and refrigerator which I'm starting to love with the new woodwork! Here is a before picture:

And here it is now: It's hard to tell in the picture, but the walls are painted a very light blue/green color. It's called Winter In Paris. It makes the kitchen look so much lighter, fresher, and bigger. We kept the old hardware and I just spray painted it nickel.

Candlestick Collection (Cont'd.)

I finished spray painting the candlesticks....so here's the before and after.

Pictured above are the candlesticks when I bought them.
The candlesticks with a coat of spray primer. I almost left them white instead of silver because I liked the look so much.
And here's the finished product. I'm very pleased with the way they turned out. Now I just need some candlesticks in them and a place to put them around the house.

Candlestick Collection

Since today was my day off and it was raining, I thought it would be the perfect day to hit up some antique shops. I was in search of old candlesticks and vases that I could re-finish or polish for decorations. Needless to say, I hit the jackpot. I went to a few different shops in Norman and ended up buying 8 candlesticks and 2 vases for a very good price. Here is the collection.
I also bought some brass and copper polish and tried to clean some of them up. Most of them turned out pretty good with lots of rubbing and elbow grease, but a few of them had some bad spots on them. I've decided that i'm going to spray paint them with primer and then a coat of paint, but I can't decide whether I want to spray paint them white, black, nickel, or a gold finish. I've seen someone do this with black spray paint and it turned out really cute. I'd like to try white, but I don't know how it will turn out. Any suggestions?? I'll post pictures once i'm done with them. I plan on putting them around the house for now and one day i'll probably use them as table decorations for my wedding reception.

Before and After!

The bathroom before.......
The bathroom after a coat of blue paint....
and some rod iron towel hooks that my mom and I found at a flea market in OKC.
and some sea shells in the sink...
and a new shower curtain courtesy of Target. There were so many fun shower curtains at Target, but I was told by my two roommates (both of which are boys) that flowers were not allowed so that left me with this one :)

My bedroom before I moved in......
My bedroom after! Although it's hard to tell, we did repaint the walls, but the color is very similar to what it was before. I decided to keep the same brown and blue bedding and headboard from college, at least for now. We also painted the woodwork white. There's still a lot left to do in my room, which is why I only posted one picture of this side of the room.

I will post pictures of the rest of the house once it's done, which will probably be forever since we still haven't started on the woodwork...oops!

Trevor's New House!

Here are some pictures of Trevor's new house! For those of you that don't know, when I move back home at the beginning of July, I will be moving in with Trevor and his good friend Ben. It will be a very tightly packed house with three people and three dogs, but I can't wait! I'll make sure and post the after pictures once we're done painting and fixing it up.

Entry way and living room. We are painting the living room a very pretty khaki/grayish color.
Dining area.Kitchen. We are hopefully going to paint all the woodwork white and we picked out a very pretty green color for the walls. Not the same green that's in there now. We also talked about maybe spray painting the appliances.....sweet retro green/yellow color huh? OLD SCHOOL, but I love them...very unique!Half Bathroom, connecting my room and Ben's.Trevor's bedroom. Yes, he will be changing the wall color. My bedroom. I'm going to paint the walls a very light chocolate brown.Ben's room. Full bathroom. I'm trying to talk Trevor into painting this a very pretty vintage, egg shell blue.

I think it's a precious little starter home for Trevor and I can't wait to see how it turns out when we add all of our finishing touches. I love redecorating!!! I have to remember that I can't make it too girly or the boys will get upset :)

Update Blog!

Here are some recent pics from the summer:

The new wall color that's in the living room, hallway, and kitchen.

The bathroom....still plain but we are going to do black and white accents.

My roommate scraping the wallpaper off.
So glad my roomie Allison is back in town after being gone all summer in Louisiana.
Me and Aaron!!

So I have been extremely busy lately and don't really even have time to think about getting on the internet. The last eight weeks I have been working 50 hrs a week and it is EXHAUSTING! I absolutely cannot wait for school to start so my hours will decrease to 20 hrs a week. I think i've been home to Norman a total of four times this summer...which is quite depressing! We've also been doing some remodeling to our duplex. We had horrible wallpaper in our kitchen and bathroom and we decided to tear it all down and paint. Once we realized how much work it would be, we really regretted starting that project. It took us about two weeks to complete, but it looks SOOO much better. Anyway, to sum things up i've been doing work, pom, hair, work, eat, sleep, work, a little playing on Sat, oh and did i mention WORK??? Thank goodness I like my job though!
