Everett's Nursery- Before & After

I finally have everything done and where I want it in Everett's nursery and I am so pleased with how it turned out and so glad to have it done!

Here is what the room looked like before when we first moved in...

And here it is now...

It was a 9 month labor of love, but it is now one of my favorite rooms in the house and I can't wait to rock my baby boy in his room every night. It's funny because Samson (our dog) has never really stepped foot in this room before, but once we got the room done, we keep catching him in there sleeping at night or we will find his duck on the rug when we get home from work so we know he has been in there during the day. I'm sure this will be his new favorite room to hang out in and be protector over once Rhett gets here!

2017: A Year In Review

In 2017, I was a terrible blogger. I wrote a total of 5 posts, but I'm going to blame that on life being really busy and full for us. 2017 was a really good year, we are sad to see it go, but something tells me 2018 is going to be our best year thus far!!

January

We rang in the new year at the 3rd Annual Grimmett New Year's Eve Party. Always a fun time with great friends.

I hosted two painting parties in January for two great groups of ladies.

I traveled to Las Vegas for Redken Symposium with my work. It was an incredible learning experience and so much fun.
The best part of January.... our first Nephew, Mason made his surprise grand appearance into the world. Isn't he perfect?

February
I taught another fun Valentine's painting party with some of the ladies in my family.
I went on a girl's trip to Waco for the first time to see Magnolia and visit my childhood friend, Laura who works for Chip and JoAnna Gaines. We got a super cool behind the scenes tour.
And we stayed in the Mid-Century Modern house that had been redone on a previous season of Fixer Upper. It was really neat!

March

I traveled to St. Louis with these girls to celebrate Jan's Bachelorette Bash! It was a fun weekend of much needed girl time.

We got the keys and closed on our first house!! Hallelujah for our last move for a really long time!

April

We celebrated our sweet niece's 1st birthday.

The rest of April, we made it a point to stay home and work on getting our house ready to move in. We painted all three bedrooms, the walls and the woodwork, redid the guest bathroom, and worked on the flower beds in the front yard.
 Our bedroom

I also worked on refurnishing this china hutch that quickly became my favorite piece of furniture in the house.

May
I taught a painting party in Pawhuska at The Brick Teepee with all these fun ladies.
After our miscarriage and a year of trying again, we found out the GREATEST NEWS EVER, that we were expecting a sweet baby in February.
By far the best news of the entire year!

June
We traveled to Las Vegas with our best friends to see The Backstreet Boys in concert.
It was hands down the best concert we have both ever been to. We've been to a lot of concerts between the two of us combined and we both would travel and pay to go see them again...it was that good!
I taught a painting party for all my amazing coworkers and their friends/family,

We celebrated our 4th wedding anniversary!

We had our 5th Annual Family Reunion on my dad's side of the family.

July

July was a hard month because we lost my beloved Grandpa Marvin, but we had a wonderful celebration of his very full, crazy life with all of our family members.

August
August was spent tackling our next few house projects. We painted all the wood paneling in the hallway, painted the walls, fireplace, and woodwork in the living room, and took down wallpaper, painted the walls and wood paneling/wood work in the dining room.

September

We celebrated Aaron's 30th birthday with a surprise party/gender reveal and found out we were having a BOY!!!

October

Took another girls trip to Waco and San Marcos, TX with my childhood best friends! We had way too much fun!

Redid some more furniture and worked on Baby Everett's nursery!

November
Had our first baby shower for Everett!
 Celebrated Thanksgiving with Aaron's family.
And celebrated Thanksgiving with my family.
My sister-in-law and I....expecting our baby boys 7 weeks apart. Little did we know, just three days later, her baby boy would be born!
Holding my precious nephew, Asher for the first time. He is the sweetest and best baby ever!

December
Taught a painting party at my friend's new spa, Brow & Skin Co.

Attended our Annual Corny Sweater Party with all my high school friends. Always a fun time!
Hit the 32 week mark, counting down the weeks!

Merry Christmas!!!

We got to spend the weekend before Christmas with Aaron's family. It was so fun to watch Mason open his presents! Children definitely make the holidays way more magical!

Then, we spent Christmas Eve and Christmas Day with my family. My niece is at such a fun age, she is so funny and we could just sit and watch her play and interact all day. Next year is going to be so much fun with Everett involved in all the festivities!
They love each other. So sweet, melts my heart!

Soaking up all the Asher snuggles!

2018, we are ready for you! We are eager, anxious, and oh so excited to see what all this new year will bring for our growing family. My word/focus for 2018 will be rest/simplicity. Resting is a hard concept for me to grasp because I like being busy and having lots of projects and a full calendar so this year will be a challenge for me because I know cabin fever will set in quickly once Everett arrives, but I just want to enjoy every bit of being a new mom. I know rest is probably the last word that will come to my mind for 2018, but I'm going to focus on resting, simplifying, and being present in 2018! Happy New Year friends! May your 2018 be a blessed one :)
