Halloween 2010!

Here are some pictures from my Halloween weekend. My friend Stephanie and Jackie hosted the party and they did an AWESOME job with decorations and food! It looked very festive and the food was amazing. Of course, I didn't expect anything less because Stephanie is a chef for Abbey Road Catering and Jackie makes their desserts. Let's just say my cookies didn't compare and were left untouched....oh well, I figured they didn't stand a chance.
Yummy red velvet cake balls!
Delicious eyeball deviled eggs.
Spider web seven layer dip.

Vegetable tray and dip shaped like a mummy. The mummy's eyes were olives....so cute!
If you ever need someone to cater an event or party, these are the girls to call. Stephanie will be doing my wedding someday :)
Stephanie as Marilyn Monroe and her sister dressed as Sarah Palin.

The leprechaun and his pot of gold.

Jackie and her husband as Barbie and Ken.

My brother as a lumber jack and his friend Patrick as Creeper McCreeperton! Patrick didn't have a costume so he wore Trevor's from last year and he ended up winning scariest costume and won $50.

Thing 1 (me) and Thing 2 (Sabrina)
My friends from college couldn't make it and I was super sad, but Sabrina stepped in and used the costume. We had a lot of fun with it!
Hope everyone had a great Halloween!

Halloween Treats!

I hope everyone has a safe and fun Halloween weekend. I thought it would be fun to make some Halloween cookies for tonight's costume party. They are homemade sugar and peanut butter cookies with butter cream icing. I slaved on them all morning and they didn't turn out like I was hoping. As you can see, I'm not the greatest cook in the world. I personally think they turned out quite comical and they taste a little funny too. Oh well, it was fun anyhow. I hope they get eaten tonight. I did try a cookie and they're not that bad, just a little dry.

Those are supposed to be cats if you can't tell haha.

I bought this canister of 100 cookie cutters. There's a full alphabet and various designs for every holiday. I'm excited to practice making cookies more often so I can perfect them.

I'm excited for the costume party tonight. Don't worry, I will be taking my camera and I will post pictures of all the wonderful costumes. Happy Halloween :))

Randomness.....

Just a few random tidbits about what has been going on in my life lately.

AARON (my boyfriend) FOUND OUT TONIGHT THAT HE PASSED HIS OKLAHOMA WILDLIFE TEST!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hooray, this is such great news! In order to work for the Oklahoma Wildlife Department you must pass this test. Actually, you cannot even fill out an application until you've passed the test. You have to score in the top 25% of the group who took it with you in order to pass. Aaron loves being outside. He is an avid fisher and hunter and will be great at doing any kind of job that involves wildlife and nature. He will graduate this December with a degree in Environmental and Health Safety Management. Way to go Aaron, I'm so proud of you :)

I'm very excited because these two lovely ladies will be visiting me for Halloween! These are two of my best friends that I met in college.

The three of us will be dressing up as Thing 1 & Thing 2 & Cat in the Hat. I think it will be super fun. We are going to my friend's Halloween costume party and it is required that you dress up. They are giving away a prize for the best costume. I can't wait to see what everyone comes up with. I love Halloween! I'll make sure and share pics of all the costumes from the party!

My family bought my brother some goodies for the backyard for his birthday. I bought him a fire pit and my parents bought him a hammock and some tiki torches so we could have some fun cookouts this fall. We have already put them to good use. Since it was such a nice day today, I decided to lay out in the hammock and read a book while the dogs played. I'm in a book club with my mom and some of our friends. I know it sounds like something old women do, but I really do enjoy it. I've only attended one of the meetings because I work nights, but I still read the books. The last book we read was "Looking for Salvation at the Dairy Queen" by Susan Gregg Gilmore. I really enjoyed reading it. Our new book is called "Singing with the Top Down" by Debrah Williamson. So far I'm on chapter 5 and I think it will be good. I like being in the book club because it motivates me to read. I love to read, but I rarely make time for it.

Heroes in a half shell, TURTLE POWER!

Cowabunga Dudes!
Leonardo, Donatello, Rafael, and Michaelangelo

Go Ninja, Go Ninja Go!

For Halloween, me and my roommates (Allison-purple and Caitlin-blue) and our friend Courtney (red) decided to dress up as the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles! If you can't figure it out by process of elimination, I'm Michaelangelo (the orange one). We made our costumes out of cardboard boxes, paint, and tights. Needless to say, we were very stiff and uncomfortable all night, but it was WELL worth it. We had a blast with it and took lots of fun pictures to prove it. ENJOY!
