It's Been A While!

Sorry i've been MIA for a while, I'm sure not many people have missed my blog anyway, but oh well. I figured I'd give friends and family an update on what's been going on in my life the past few months.

#1: I GRADUATED COLLEGE!!!! I had a great graduation weekend, celebrating with my friends and family who were able to come. Here are a few pics from graduation.

#2: I MOVED BACK TO NORMAN AND I AM LIVING WITH TREVOR AND HIS FRIEND BEN IN TREVOR'S NEW HOUSE! In the last three weeks that I've been living in his house, I've painted the walls and woodwork in my bedroom, painted the walls in the hallway, living room, and kitchen. Next, we will paint all the woodwork in the whole house white. I absolutely love living where I do. I love that we have a garden..My mom planted the flowers, but I love watering them and enjoying them. My dog Samson lives with me now and it makes me so happy! He's so sweet and he follows me everywhere. Each of us have our own dog so we are very busy sweeping and vacuuming up all the hair. Once the woodwork is all finished, I will post before and after pictures of the house.

#3: I GOT A JOB AT THE JCPENNEY'S HAIR SALON! I decided after much thought that I wanted to do hair. I applied at a couple of salons in Norman and OKC, but I decided to accept the job at JCPenney's. There are a few reasons for this......A. They pay hourly plus commission on services and product sales. This is a huge plus for me because I don't have a big enough clientele for booth rent, plus I will be getting a paycheck whether or not I have clients in my chair. B. It's located in the Norman mall so there will hopefully be lots of traffic and walk-ins. C. They offer benefits like health and dental insurance, 401K plan, and paid vacations. D. Everyone I talked to there loved it and some of the ladies have been there for over 10 years. My first day of work will be on Aug. 2nd! If you need your hair done, PLEASE come see me, I would love it!

#4: I'M LEARNING HOW TO COOK! My good friend Stephanie attended culinary school for a while and she works as a chef at a catering company in Norman now. Once a week, a group of my friends get together and cook. Stephanie plans what we're going to make and she teaches us how. We've only done it once, but I learned so much and I can't wait for next week! I've always wanted to learn how to cook so I'm very excited about it. Hopefully I will have time to start blogging about what we cook and I'll post pictures of the food and the recipes :)

#5: MY MOM AND I ARE TRAINING FOR THE YMCA TRIATHLON IN SEPTEMBER. Two years ago Trevor and I did the triathlon at the YMCA and I loved it. This year my mom will be doing it with both Trevor and I. We've been training for about a month now. I try to run and swim about four times a week. The triathlon includes 500 meters swimming, 12 miles biking, and a 5k run. I thoroughly enjoying swimming....I think it is so relaxing and such a great full body workout.

Other than that, I'm just enjoying having the month of July off from work. It's really spoiled me, although I haven't had a lot of time to just sit and relax. However, I do get to sleep in everyday :) I can't wait to start doing hair in a salon again and I'm really excited about working hard to build my clientele. Hope you are all doing well, I'd love for you to e-mail me and let me know how your life's going.

New Orleans Trip!

I cannot explain to you how much of a BLAST we had on our weekend road trip to Louisiana! We left on Friday morning around 9am and we arrived in Mandeville, LA around 6:00pm. The car ride there was filled with singing, dancing, making crazy videos, and tons of laughing. I don't think anyone slept more than an hour the whole way. When we arrived at Allison's house we scurried around to take showers and get ready for the EVE PARADE that started @ 7:00. We met up with Allison's brother and all of his friends at the parade. We caught so many beads that you couldn't even tell we had necks. The Eve Parade is the weekend before Mardi Gras and the floats are filled with women wearing extravagant costumes and head dresses. Saturday we went to see Dear John with Alli's mom and afterward we played dominoes with her dad. Saturday night we got all dressed up and went to the Orpheus Ball. We all felt like we were re-living our high school prom since it was the first dance most of us had been to since high school. The ball was SOO much fun. We got there at 7:3o and danced all night, until about 2:00. As you all know, the Saints were playing in the superbowl on Sunday (the day we headed home). Vicki, Alli's mom sent us home with two Saints cakes, Who Dat drink tumblers, black and gold fleur-de-lis scarves, and crawfish pasta. I can't begin to count the number of times that we heard or said the phrase, "WHO DAT...WHO DAT....WHO DAT SAID THEY GON' BEAT THEM SAINTS!!" It was definitely a FABULOUS weekend and Allison couldn't have gotten a better birthday present than the Saints winning the superbowl! Enjoy the pictures!

Me and my two beautiful roommates!

The girls before the Orpheous ball!

All five of us girls who made the road trip to Louisiana!!

Here is a pic of me and the birthday girl Alli (my roommate and Mandeville resident).

I'm Getting Old!

So I am currently in my last semester of college.....CRAZY huh? I don't know exactly how I feel about it yet. It seems like everytime someone asks me when I'm graduating they follow it with...."enjoy it as much as possible because once you're out you will regret wishing it would end so soon." I WAS 100% ecstatic about graduating college and moving back home to start a career. I still am of course but the closer it gets the more I realize WOW I'm getting OLD! I'm going to miss Fort Smith and all my friends here SO much, but I can't wait to get back to Norman. A lot of people have asked me what I'm planning on doing as far as a job is concerned. My answer is- I have no clue! I want a job in the hair/cosmetic industry, but not necessarily a stylist job in a salon. I would love to incorporate the business/sales side with it. Ideally, I would love to work as a cosmetic/hair product rep and travel to salons and teach classes and sell products to different salons and schools. The only problem with that is there are no jobs like that in our area. Most of these jobs are in big cities like L.A., Dallas, and so on. I'm planning on filling out applications, going to job fairs and interviews within the next couple of months. I'm figuring out very quickly that the whole job hunting process is very stressful and time consuming when balancing it with school, pom and a job. Anyway, you all probably just found out a lot more information than you really wanted to know, but I've been asked that question a lot lately so I figured I'd fill everyone in on it. Speaking of getting old.....I attended my first baby shower for one of my good high school friends this past weekend. She and her husband are expecting a little boy in March. She was the cutest little pregnant lady!

Here is a pic from the baby shower. All the girls in this pic played high school volleyball with me! It was so good to see each one of them and catch up.

It seems like every other day i'm finding out that someone else i'm friends with or know is having a baby or getting married....it makes me feel old!

This weekend it snowed about 6 inches here in Fort Smith. My friend Courtney and I went outside and enjoyed playing in the snow. We took a bunch of pictures and made a snowwoman, complete with a red wig and scarf! We also decided to go to our neighbors (they share a duplex with us and they play baseball at our school) and interrupt their movie watch party by throwing snowballs at their front door. We laughed pretty hard and had a good time! Here are some pics from our snow day.

This upcoming weekend I will be making a girls road trip to Mandeville, Louisiana. It's right outside of New Orleans and is the hometown of one of my roommates. It's her birthday weekend and the weekend before Mardi Gras. Last year I got to attend Mardi Gras with her so i'm super excited about going back. Her brother rented a table at the Orpheous Ball and told Allison to invite three of her friends to come. We get to dress up in ball gowns and enjoy lots of food and dancing. I'm so excited, I can't wait! I'm sure the area will be booming all weekend due to the Saints playing in the super bowl. Today we went to the nail salon and got our nails painted black with a gold Fleur-de-lis (the Saints symbol). We figured we might as well cheer them on while we're down there....i'm sure Alli and her family will be proud!

Well that's all for now...I will make sure and update the blog with pics and stories from our weekend in Louisiana....ROAD TRIP!! WAHOO!!
