2 weeks down, 16 to go!!!
Here is my progress from week two.
Wednesday: ran 3 miles (duration of run: 28 min 9 sec)
Thursday: ran 3 miles (28:03)
Friday: ran 3 miles (28:25)
Sunday: ran 7 miles (1 hour, 12 minutes, and 48 seconds- 10:23 mile pace)
I'm not going to lie, the second week was much tougher than the first week. For some reason it seemed harder to run the 3 miles 3 days in a row. I ran my long run on Sunday. I ran around 8:30am and it was about 34 degrees outside. Half way through the run it began sleeting....what a BLAST right? Luckily, my boyfriend was in town and he rode his bike beside me the whole way. He was such a trooper. It makes a world of difference when you have someone running or riding beside you giving encouragement. This week's training should be easier. I will run 3 miles Tuesday, 4 miles Wednesday, 3 miles Thursday and 5 miles Saturday! I'll keep you posted!

Way Back Wednesday- Quincee & Vern!
I thought honoring my sweet friend Vern would be fitting for this week's Way Back Wednesday post because it is the week of her wedding...AHH so excited! I have known Veronica for a very long time. Way back when, my dad was Veronica's track coach.....then she became my babysitter ...and then she ended up sharing a classroom with my dad when she taught at Norman High. My dad got lucky because he didn't have to decorate a thing in the room. I remember her classroom was always the coolest one....lots of fun colors and decorations all over! A few years after I graduated from cosmetology school Veronica became one of my favorite/most loyal hair clients. Believe me when I say loyal... there was once a time when I colored her hair and I accidentally bought the wrong box of color and didn't know it....she had bright orange roots! She was such a trooper and went with it until I was able to fix it. She would always come over to my parents house to get her hair cut when I came home from college. It was a requirement that we cut it at my parents house so that she could sit and talk to my mom while getting her hair done. It was always fun to catch up while doing her hair. If you know Vern then you know that it is always fun when she's around. There's never a dull moment. She is so full of energy and life all the time! Veronica has always been an inspiration and a role model to me. She is an amazing woman of God and has such an evident strong faith in Him. She has been blessed with so many spiritual gifts. It's probably safe to say that she has never met a stranger and I know she leaves a positive lasting impression on everyone she meets. I have learned many things about being a good Christian through interaction with Vern and listening to her stories about life. One of my favorite things in my bedroom is a frame that Veronica made me that says "Yes Lord". It was such a small gift, but it means so much! I keep it on my nightstand as a constant reminder.
I am so excited that Vern has finally met her match and will marry him this Saturday! She has been patiently waiting for this day for a very long time! I know she will make an amazing wife and mother. Her fiance is a VERY VERY lucky man. From what I hear she is a VERY VERY lucky woman too! I could not be more thrilled for the two of them. I am honored that Veronica chose me to do her hair for the big day. She came over last week and we tried out a few different hair styles. It was very sweet and special to see her excitement and joy as she tried on the veil. She is going to look absolutely stunning!
Here are some pictures from back in the day:
Vern,
Thank you so much for your friendship and loyalty throughout the years. You definitely win the best client award. I'm so excited and honored to have a part in your wedding day. I know you're going to be the most beautiful bride. Can't wait to walk through this next stage of life with you and Kory! Love you!

Week 1 Training Progress!
1 week down, 17 to go!!!! YIKES! I decided I'm going to write a weekly post on my marathon training progress. I'm mainly doing it for my personal use so when I look back at past blog posts I can see how far I've come and will be able to remember how I felt during the training.....and I figured some of you might be interested in it.
Week 1:
Tuesday: ran 3 miles (duration of run= 29:16)
Wednesday: ran 3 miles (29:01)
Thursday: ran 3 miles (29:25)
Sunday: ran 6 miles (1:01:55)
I'm proud to say that I ran 6 miles at a 10:18 mile pace...for some of you that might be a piece of cake, but for me it is a big deal! My goal is to stay at a 10 min. mile pace for as long as I can. I will be running 16 miles this week and I'll keep you posted on how that goes.

Way Back Wednesday- Quincee and Allie Entz!
WARNING: This blog post contains a large number of photos.
Meet Allie, my best friend from college. She will kill me for blackmailing her with the above picture, but it is such an incredibly awesome picture that I couldn't resist. Every time I see it I can't help but laugh. Allie and I met our freshman year of college. We were both members of the UAFS volleyball team. From the minute we met, we instantly became good friends. I think it was easy for us because we had so much in common. We were both setters, drove Jetta's, had double chins, and we pretty much had the same views on life. We spent countless hours together during volleyball and because we played the same position we were always put together during drills and warm-up. Allie was also my roommate for two years. Although we saw each other every day, there was rarely a time when we ever argued (minus our tiff during sophomore year). I'm so thankful for Allie's friendship.....she is such a wonderful, caring friend. We made some wonderful memories throughout college. Most of you won't pick up on these jokes, but Allie will. Team Yo Momma. Deep creeper voices. Bored video making. Pitching machines. Tarp sliding in the rain. _____ nugget. Slumber parties. My studying moodiness/nervous breakdowns. Worship CD on Norman trips. Chick-Fil-A trips. Mardi Gras....and the list goes on and on and on.

Christmas with the Best Friends!
The night before Christmas Eve I celebrated Christmas with three of my closest friends! We exchanged gifts, ate food, talked, and watched Father of the Bride. It was a successful evening filled with lots of FUN! I thought I'd share a few pics from the night....
I was SO excited about all of my wonderful gifts...they know me all too well! I got some Bath & Body Works candles and hand soap, THE PIONEER WOMAN COOKBOOK (can't wait to learn how to cook, haha), a Hobby Lobby gift card, and a Christmas tree cookie cutter!
My friend Beth got a fun OU ornament, a bottle of wine, and a close pin picture board that I made her.
Alli is excited about her gifts, can't you tell? She got a Skinny Girl book that has health nut info and recipes, a candle, and Niven Morgan Gold hand lotion.
Love these girls!
I couldn't figure out what to get Beth for Christmas so I hit up a few thrift stores in search of a wooden picture frame that could be transformed into a close pin picture board. Here is what I found:
It was a super ugly frame, but I could tell it had some potential!

Here is the final product:
It was a very easy process. I just took the plexiglass out, spray painted the frame, covered the matte in fabric, nailed some black wire to the back of the frame, and close pinned the pics to the wire. The hardest part was trying to get the three lines of wire evenly spread out which I didn't to such a hot job on, but I was happy with the end result. I like that it's a cheap and easy way to display pictures, rather than using a picture frame or bulletin board.

Happy Birthday MOM!!
Happy 52nd Birthday to the greatest mom in the entire world! I hope this year brings many blessings and wonderful memories your way! I'm so thankful that I have such an amazing mom. My friends used to always tell me that I was going to be just like my mom when I grew up. Of course, back when I was in high school and was a stubborn teenager, I always said "no I won't." If you were to say the same thing to me now I would tell you that I can only hope that I'm half the mom and wife that she is. My mom is truly one of my best friends.....I pretty much tell her everything and I LOVE spending quality time with her. My mom and dad have taught me so many great life lessons. One thing I learned from my mom is how to cherish and nurture friendships. My mom has a close knit group of great friends, whether it be from high school, college, Sunday school, etc. Seeing her maintain those friendships over the years has taught me that you have to nourish those relationships and have a part in their lives for them to survive. When I was younger, one of my favorite things to do with my mom was have slumber parties! When my dad would be gone for football games and track meets my mom and I would always have slumber parties. We would just hang out and watch movies and then I would get to sleep in her room and when my dad came home late at night from the games, he would be kicked out of his bed and have to sleep in mine. I LOVED having slumber parties with my mom, mainly because when I was younger I was scared to sleep by myself, haha. I'm thankful that my mom pushed me (forced me would be a better word) to try new things. She made me play soccer and sing/ring in the church choir. I absolutely hated soccer and I didn't love church choir, but I grew to enjoy church choir and I'm so glad that I was a part of it. All in all, I think my mom is pretty darn cool and I look up to her....after all, how many 52 year olds can say that in the last year they completed a half marathon and a triathlon and are training for their 2nd half marathon? Mom, I'm so proud of all that you have accomplished in the last year and I hope next year is just as great! I'm so thankful for your love and friendship....I LOVE YOU! Happy Birthday!
