Saw It, Pinned It, Did It- #11

Linking up with Stephanie & Katie for SPD!

Since Valentine's Day is coming up this month I thought I'd share a cute gift idea. I made these last year for Aaron so I apologize if this is the second time you've seen them. I'm still trying to figure out what to do for him this year. I'm sure it will be something I see on Pinterest :)

Here is what I found on Pinterest:

And here is my version:

The tags pictured below I made myself. Some of the ideas I took from Pinterest and some of them I came up with.

Cheesy, but fun....and who doesn't love getting lots of soda pop and sweets/snacks? I know I would love it.

Can't wait to see your projects. One of my favorite things about Thursday's :)

Saw It, Pinned It, Did It- #10

You just thought I was going to skip out on this week's SPD......
.....It's called I wanted to be the last one to post today, or you could call it procrastination. I didn't start on my project until 1:30pm today...OOPS! At least I still did it, right?
Go check out Stephanie and Katie's blogs to see all the other wonderful projects!

I wanted to create some artwork for the kitchen in Aaron's house (my future house). I'm going up there for Valentine's day and my goal is to unpack all my kitchen boxes and get everything in order and hung on the walls. I think these two projects will add a lovely touch to the kitchen. I went with black and white because the kitchen tile is black and white checkered (my favorite part of the house).

Here is my Pinspiration:

And here is my version:

It's hard to tell in the picture, but I outlined the Chevron pattern with a gold leaf paint pen.
The trick to the Chevron is cutting out a pattern with paper and then tracing it with a pencil on to the letters......but the real trick is using Frog Tape to tape off the lines. It works like magic!

Here is my other Pinspiration:

And here is my version:

It's hard to read in the picture, but in person you can read it perfectly. I had trouble finding a way to photograph it well. I LOVE this quote/prayer and I knew when I saw it on Pinterest that I had to re-make it for our dining room.

Once I get it all decorated next month, I'll post pictures for you to see.

Saw It, Pinned It, Did It- #9

Yay it's Thursday and you know what that means.......
with Stephanie & Katie!

I'm finally sharing a different type of project and it involves NAILS! I love painting my nails. You will rarely ever see me without my nails painted. I usually switch them up once a week because my hands are always in the shampoo bowl at work so my polish never lasts long. I love that nails are have become a great accessory with all the new fun ways to polish/design your nails.

Here is my Pinspiration:

And here is my version:

I used the Sally Hansen Lacey Lilac nail polish pictured below. It is one of my favorite colors to wear in the spring and summer.
I used the Sally Hansen Nail Art Pen in White to draw the design.

Wine & Palette

Last night I went to Wine & Palette with my friends Traci and Sarah. We had a great time and I think all of our paintings turned out great. I love how each of them are unique and different from the other.

Here is the original "bride groom" image that the artist teaching the class painted:

Here is Sarah's version:

She painted her friend's that are getting married this weekend. Didn't it turn out so cute? We were laughing because her lady looks just like Wilma Flintstone.

Here is Traci's version:
She followed the rules pretty closely, but it's funny because her painting kind of resembles her and the boyfriend.

Here is my version:
I tried to somewhat follow the guidelines, but I wanted the painting to look like Aaron and me. It doesn't look like either one of us, but that's okay. I text Aaron a picture of it to show him my masterpiece and his response was "creepy mustache".

If your city has anything to offer similar to Wine & Palette, you should definitely go. It is always a lot of fun!

Wedding Update!

Since I last blogged two weeks ago about wedding to-dos, we've gotten a lot more checked off the to-do list and it feels great!

-I went to the bridal show with my mom and Maid of Honor, Allison. We had a great time and came home with a lot of paper ads.
Our photobooth souvenir, thanks to Nexus Productions!

-I spent an entire evening covering mason jars with burlap, lace, and twine for flower vases at the reception. I love how they turned out.

- We booked our honeymoon and I'm so excited about it! I've been to Mexico before, but never to the Cancun area. It looks beautiful from the pictures.

- My veil came in the mail! It wasn't exactly what I ordered, but I actually really like it and I think it's going to work perfectly. I have yet to try the dress on with the veil.

- I went to the second cake testing and it was a SUCCESS! I cannot tell you how excited I am to have the cake baker booked. That was probably one of the hardest parts about the wedding planning process thus far. We chose Rosebeary's Designs in Baking for the cake. She is amazing. I can already tell she will be a joy and ease to work with. The cake I picked out is exactly what I wanted. I got to taste test 12 different flavors and they were all delicious. It was hard to pick my top five.
I went with white wedding cake, strawberry, carrot (my favorite), chocolate almond, and german chocolate.
 All twelve cake samples
Butter Yellow, Cinnamon Roll, Italian Creme, Carrot, Strawberry
Confetti, Red Velvet, Pink Champagne, Chocolate Almond, German Chocolate, Spice, and Lemon

Our cake will incorporate a few designs from these two cakes. SWOON!

- We picked out a song for our friends to sing during the wedding ceremony. I'm not going to share what song it is on the blog until after the wedding. It is a beautiful song and I can't wait to hear the girls sing it because their voices are amazing. I keep listening to the song on repeat.

- I scheduled my bridal portraits for May. That also means I can go ahead and schedule my last fitting and my hair and make-up trial runs :) I finally decided on a hairstylist this week and I'm so excited to be using her. She was my boss/salon owner from the last salon I worked in and she is amazing at hair. I still have to figure out make-up.

- We decided what we are going to do/use for our send-off. Also going to keep that a secret from the blog, but I'm really excited about it and I think it will look so pretty in pictures.

- Aaron decided that he is okay with doing a "first look" before the wedding ceremony. We were both anti "first looks" from the beginning because we are both very traditional and wanted the big ah-ha moment when we see eachother for the first time when I'm walking down the aisle. After a lot of talking and weighing the options, we both decided we want a special moment together before the wedding to calm our nerves and talk. It will also be a huge help to get our pictures out of the way before the ceremony so we can get to the reception sooner.

- I'm meeting with my friend Traci (check out her super cute blog) this week to start designing our wedding invitations. I have a few ideas in mind, but I'm going to rely on her expertise to give me some better ideas.

- I get to see Aaron for two days next weekend and we will be tux/suit shopping together. Hopefully, we can get that figured out and then we will be done with all of the big stuff and can focus on all the little details. Don't worry...I did save him some leftover cake samples so that he can be a part of that. He demanded that I save him some even though it will be a week old. Hope it still tastes as good!

-I have finally kicked my booty into gear as far as working out is concerned. My goal is to work out six days a week and I have kept my goal for the last two weeks. I've been going to the YMCA 3 days a week and doing 45 mins of cardio and 15 mins of lifting. The other 3 days, I've been doing Jillian Michaels 30 day shred workout video. Hoping to start seeing results soon!

- 7 of the 10 bridesmaids have found their bridesmaid dresses. That is a huge relief because I was really worried it would  be hard for them to find dresses this time of year in the mint green color. Apparently it hasn't been that hard because I still see the color everywhere. I imagine it will be even easier to find come spring and summer. Yes, I have 10 bridesmaids, yes I know you think it's ridiculous, but I don't because they are my best friends. They will all be mismatched dresses because they are picking their own out from wherever they want. I'm really excited to see them all together because they've all done such a great job picking out cute dresses that represent their personal style and that's what I love most about it.

AHH, I feel good writing all this stuff down because it makes me feel accomplished and helps keep me on track.

According to theknot.com, we have 166 days to go!!! WAAAAHHOOOOOO!!

Saw It, Pinned It, Did It- #8

I am extremely excited to share my Pinterest project for this week's Saw It, Pinned It, Did It with the fabulous hostesses Katie & Stephanie!

It is yet another wedding project...imagine that ;) Now that almost all of our Save the Dates have been sent out, I can finally share them on my blog.

So here's a little background. My fiance has loved to fish ever since he was very young. When I first met him, he told me that when he grew up, his dream job would be raising fish at a trout hatchery....and that's exactly what he's doing.

A few years ago, my best friend and MOH received a Save the Date from a friend that said "We're hooked" on it and had some sort of picture on the front. She made sure to show it to me because it reminded her of something Aaron and I would do. Fast forward to about a year ago, way before I was engaged....she sends me a Facebook message of this picture because she thought it was really cute and looked like us.

So here was my Pinspiration:

I knew when we got engaged that I wanted to incorporate something that represented Aaron and his love for fishing and hunting into some aspect of the wedding. My other option was to do something that said "he took a shot and she said yes", or "now the hunt is over", but I thought that might have been a little too much. I definitely liked the fishing idea better...especially since Aaron's career is centered around fish.

So without further ado, here is my version:

The front of the postcard
The back of the postcard...edited for safety reasons

I thought the "Two less fish in the sea" was fitting because back when Aaron and I celebrated our first anniversary together, I made him a cake that said "Of all the fish in the sea, I'm so glad you chose me".
Here is the cake. Don't laugh, it's not my best creation ever.

A big thanks to YellowBrick Graphics on Etsy for making my idea come to life. They did an awesome job and it turned out exactly how I envisioned. Plus, you can't beat the $15 price tag. I then took the PDF file to Office Depot and had them printed there for a very reasonable price. I highly recommend them if you need invitations or stationary.

Can't wait to see all the creations from the link-up.
What would we do without Pinterest?

Saw It, Pinned It, Did It- #7

So excited to be linking up again with Stephanie & Katie for Saw It, Pinned It, Did It!

I've got a few projects to share today. I got busy crafting during my Christmas break.

Here is my Pinspiration:

And here is my version:

I know there have been a ton of these posted previously on this link-up so it's not as cool as the first time you saw it, but I loved the idea and I think they're really cute. I made these as a Christmas present for my friend getting married in May. I incorporated their wedding date on the handle too. It's so easy to do...just write with a sharpie and bake in the oven at 350 degrees for 30 mins. The possibilities are endless!

I thought these rein-beers would be a great thing to bring as my dirty Santa gift our tacky Christmas party with friends.

Clearly my snowmen are not near as put together as the Pinterest picture, but they are a festive, tasty treat and they always get eaten.

Oh, what would I do without Pinterest? :)

Can't wait to see everyone else's creations!
